This whole list at the top reminds me of a gang at school.

Mudhoney & Tad are the cool kids.
Nirvana were a part of it for a while before coming the most popular kid in school.
Soundgarden is the kid that got in by doing something cool once but nobody really cares about.
Pearl Jam is the kid that left school a couple of years earlier and still hangs around there occasionally to bore people about how much they get laid & how they were the first to do all that stuff.

Alice In Chains & Stone Temple Pilots are the 2 geeky kids hanging around wanting in that nobody really takes seriously.
