The fact is that Nirvana will always be the (safe) vote and always winning unanimously by popular choice. No different than with the Beatles for example.
Eh, over the last few months, I've been steadily losing interest in even the few mainstream grunge bands that I liked, even Soundgarden. Nirvana is the only one that's really been keeping my interest.

Sometimes the safe vote is the best vote. Nirvana Just based on the three studio albums that they released in relation to the first three albums by all the other bands, were imo the best band. It makes no difference to me whether those albums sold just a few copies or sold by the millions.

Nevermind is just a really, really good album.

Me too (not much interest) these days, I go back and forth between Nirvana and AIC, Soundgarden here and there. I hardly ever listen to Nevermind anymore, so overplayed. Listening to In Utero mostly. STP is a band I haven't listened to in years and they do actually have different material I like.

Sometimes yes, but not always as you indicated. If a particular band or artist is not to your own personal taste? Popularity and record sales doesn't really matter much either way. I wouldn't really say that Nirvana was the best talented band musically, but they did show the most originality with their raw style. Loud and written in terms of simplicity (musically = noise, chaos, etc). I mostly agree with you concerning the first three albums by Nirvana, If it weren't for In Utero though, I would more than likely go with Stone Temple Pilots.

Alice in Chains followed by Pearl jam.

Alice in Chains just because of albums like Facelift, Dirt and Jar of Flies.

Just because you don't particularly like the band doesn't mean they're not a great band lol. Have you actually listened to ALL of their albums?

Really?! These kinda statements bug me. Obviously personal opinion is just personal opinion. Pointing that out is just pointless.

Some people just don't get it and you have to explain it to them.
