Yeah. I mean for starters I doubt Pearl Jam would have made it big if Nirvana hadn't come and kicked the door down first. Plus, when you look at worldwide album sales it's clear that Nirvana had much more reach than Pearl Jam did. |

Yeah, didn't both Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains' debut albums come out before Nevermind and not sell much of anything at first?

I seem to remember Alice In Chains being promoted as a metal band before Nevermind.
You saw more of them in Kerrang & on Headbangers Ball rather than the NME & 120 Minutes. They did spend 1990 touring with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer.

Not to mention they toured with Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth on the Clash of the Titans tour. I'm sorry, shouldn't that kill any "alternative cred" one could have in the nineties if you tour with ****ing Anthrax?

What a pity that link was permanently lost back then.

I feel like this is one of the most bizarrely forgotten pieces of 90s music history. I clearly remember Alice in Chains being on Headbangers Ball and whatnot as well. |
