Listen guys, I know, that Nirvana was very popular and still is. But many of their current 'fans' are people born in 90s, whose only knowledge about this band is that poor Kurt's dead, and their favourite song is Smells Like Teen Spirit. You probably won't understand, because you aren't surrounded by peers who like Nirvana only because of dead Kurt. |

From what I've gathered Nirvana were well established before Kurt's death, so it's hard believe they would be easily forgettable, like with most influential bands. However the controversy of his death did grant a lot more exposure to them which obviously includes their music, but doubt the likability is because of that.

Nirvana's debut album picked up a bunch of fans just on it's own before Kurt's death, and I know that for sure because I see it in a lot of record stores in Seattle. Posters about the album, posters about how much it crafted the grunge genre, etc. I mean, even listening to the album now is a pretty good standard to judge the band.
Be that as it may, Nevermind probably picked up more commercial success than Bleach did. However, I personally find Bleach to be one of the best out of the three albums they released. And one of the most accessible if you're wondering what kind of influence they had on other grunge acts. |

The reverse is true actually. Bleach was pretty unknown to begin with but the popularity of Nirvana's later material propelled it to platinum record sales.

^ Interesting. I'm not as familiar on Nirvana knowledge as I should be so i'm pleasantly surprised to learn that. I often wonder in terms of fans who were introduced to Nirvana with Nevermind may like or hate Bleach based on Nevermind when it should be reverse. Keep in mind i'm mostly speaking in assumption
