I will have to admit I liked Lars a whole more when he just sat quietly behind a drum kit and played...

There is something to be said for speaking quietly and carrying big sticks...

sorry for double post.
mate, st anger is a pile of absolute horse crap and metallica have done little to nothing worth mentioning in well over 15 years. what does it matter whether they are classified as 'alternative' or 'thrash'? thrash metal is essentially a type of alternative music. in that, it's not something you ever particularly heard in the top 10 of the billboard 100, ja? (possible exceptions may apply). and as for why they sued napster, im pretty sure it was not for quite so altruistic purposes as simply trying to make sure indie bands weren't screwed (who the hell would be so naive as to believe THAT???). i think it's probably something rather closer to the reasons prince had for sueing youtube.

I'd say it was a huge improvement on what the band had produced for well over a decade but i wouldnt go any further than that.

St. Anger was weird album, the tunings were all different, there were no solos and Lars drum sound had a "ping" to it that could really become grating at times - but what I liked about it was that it had intensity, purpose and renewed sense of vigor that the band so urgently lacked on the Load and Reload albums...

I am not even a huge fan, but I am drawn in enough to want to check out Death Magnetic. The sort of Intensity St. Anger has, coupled with a much better sound and adding solos back in.... sounds like it could be really good!

i Agree coompletely. i think Lars is a good drummer and all, but other than that is a annoying short danish A*SHOLE. I find it funny that in Some Kind of Monster he walked off the set (when they were talking to Dave Mustaine) crying. I am pretty Mad they did not show that.
