It's not the fact that they became to successful, it's the fact that they aren't the same band with the same kill em' all attitude that they were when they made it. They used the hardcore metalhead audience to get recognized, then turned their back on them for a more mainstream audience and more money. They also threw a hissy fit because people were downloading their music from Napster. If you were a 12 year old computer nerd like me when napster first hit it big, you were downloading music among the first generation of online file sharing and using it as a means to discover new music. I discovered Metallica that way, and was a huge fan. When they sued napster I was absolutely embarrassed to call myself a fan, I still am. This band is a disgrace as human induviduals, four d-bags that are somehow able to combine their douchebagery and become something more than any one douche could eveer accomplish alone. That's why I hate Metallica.

However, I agree with you on Kill 'Em All, and not only for the fact that you used the term "bee's knees". I can't hate Metallica. I used to love them. Master of Puppets is still the shit. Sure, they got lame after ...And Justice For All, but that's what happens when you team up with Bob Rock. You make a hit record that's palatable to the masses. Doesn't matter how much I think it sucks. It's not gonna change Metallica's minds. But check this out |
