Saw Some Kind of Monster when it came out - an interesting and fairly honest / revelaing documentary - was really interesting to see how a set of relationships in a band changes when one member needs to step out to save himself, the tension of Hetfeild leaving, and then the tension of him coming back - very much a changed person.
One thing I always wondered was why the pyschologist wanted to keep working with the band at the end when they VERY clearly were moving in a direction when they didn't need him - that just struck me as weird on his part... and I am kinda glad they let him go, because his psychobabble could get kinda annoying...

Half the metal that could fill a tea cup is self-indulgent noodling, with the only redeeming quality being that it isn't the rage-tard on the microphone who can't give himself an aneurysm soon enough.

hmmmmmm.........reasons to hate metallica. there are so many. they may have had a lot going for them in the beginning but when you start getting driven by marketing and money your whole image and music goes down the drain. some kind of monster? lame and pathetic. metallica's version of a reality show. no one wants to see a bunch of grown men in a metal band crying about their feelings. i'll give them props for their early work and i actually don't mind their new release other then it being a little repetitive and the vocals and lyrics have gone downhill. lars is a douche and they should just retire as death magnetic is probably as good as they'll ever do now.

Right, out of the people I know on that list, their noodlers.
Yes they are obscure. And whats "put Hammett to shame." How? why? Their limited in understanding the organics of a song. When people immerse themselves too much in one genre they can hear differences that a majority of people hear as all the same. Edit: and by the by, if their similarly talents, what are you basing that on?
