Yeah but they're also not nearly as good.

Exciter is tight tbh but my tastes in such metal often fall on the opposite side of the spectrum with all the girly vocals and wank and nerds

Flotsam and Jetsam are arguably more thrash but their first two albums are definite masterpieces.

I've always been fascinated by that mascot that Riot has...Johnny the Seal or whatever his name is. He's apparently pretty good with a battle axe.

^Awful mascot, but fantastic band.

Now:

Amazing how great this album is, when just a year earlier they created the piece of crap that's The Pack is Back. Instantly got their balls back.

I decided to open my mind to nu-metal after many years of ignoring it and believing the stereotype that it's inferior to "real" metal.

This is pretty cool so far, a few songs in. Neat death metal influences are pretty obvious, and the drumming is standout.

^Dude, if you're going to explore nu metal, at least start with a great album:

Still waiting for that new album that they said was in the works back in 2015.

^Cool, let me know what you think. Mudvayne's probably my favorite nu metal band.

Now:

We're Not Gonna Take It is that typical "single that doesn't sound much like the actual album" and an overplayed to death song and I think there's a lame ballad on here too, but the rest of this album is excellent.
