I agree that Exodus are more the defining thrash band than Slayer is. While Slayer does have all the traditional songwriting elements down, their dry and harsh sound is not what I'm thinking of when I'm thinking typical thrash from the biggest decade of the genre.
Exodus has that thrash sound that is exactly what I think of when I think 80's thrash. It's more reverby and there's more of a snotty brat attitude. Less carefully controlled than a Slayer album. |
