I always thought that band in general was let down by very poor production. Just never really sounded right to me and got in the way of what they were trying to accomplish.

Why are you up at 4 in the morning?

Anyway, I think the raw production on Darkness Descends suits the material. That album and Leave Scars both have raw production and it enhances those albums' dark atmosphere. Spectrum of Death conversely, is another album with raw production and that album's production just sounds bad period.

Plus this actually kinda sounds like melodic, yet punkish BM at times.
