It's been awhile since I was really on this album's dick, but now that I've reminded myself of it I think it's gonna be on heavy rotation for a while. I love how the riffs are savage and raw as ****, but also oddly ornate and stately. Prog thrash ftw!

Oh and they have literally their entire discography (afaik) free to download on their site. Cause they're awesome like that.

Anacrusis MP3

Alright, I sort of like this album now.

Holy **** what the hell is going on with the guitar solo in this song? Weirdest guitar solo I've ever heard, no doubt.

EDIT: I spoke too soon, I still dislike it. I merely tolerate its presence now.

"Closed Eye Visuals" is immense as ****.

And Decapitated's Organic Hallucinosis is a hell of a Meshuggah-worship-by-way-of-brutal-death-metal album.

Wow, I've never even heard of these guys. Fantastic stuff. Just bought a used copy through Amazon. Very excited.

After that riff-fest, I felt the need to continue it.

So much groove

Anacrusis are very underrated.

Anyway, having fun with some seriously good 1st gen metal.

If you dig that then you need to own their debut, Suffering Hour. I don't know which one I prefer, but both are godlike. Suffering Hour is more death thrash, but not so much Demolition Hammer or Morbid Saint. It's more just a progressive death thrash album that doesn't really sound like anything else that isn't also Anacrusis. It's raw and skullkrushing as **** in any case. And it was released in 1988, so it's pretty mindblowing how ahead of its time it was.

Edit: On further inspection, Screams and Whispers is probably the better album, but Suffering Hour is still an essential classic.

Fallen Empire just can't stop the ridiculous jam death/black metal. One outstanding release after another, this one still sounding fresh, twistedly technical and unrelenting
