So they got better as they evolved? I definitely think their vocalist's rhythms got better as time went on, but I can't really compare the music, as they seem to have made the same album over and over again. I'll have to explore them more. And like I said perhaps in another thread, I'm not a huge fan of their singer, but he's the absolute tits live. Dude just has a sweaty energy that absolutely owns the stage that isn't done justice on record. Even if you don't like the band I'd definitely recommend seeing them in concert if you can.

I'm not really someone who has "favourite bands" as I typically listen to one or two albums from an artist/band and then move on, but I'll be damned if Enslaved aren't making a serious case to be one of my favourite metal bands. I never would have imagined a black metal band that used clean vocals and so many progressive elements could kick this much ass, but they make it work so well. RIITIIR was the first black metal album I ever heard back when I was like, 15 or so probably, and Thoughts Like Hammers made an immediate impression on me even though I really had no idea what black metal was at the time.

Anyway, for the past month or so I've been digging through their discography and I've yet to hear an album that's anything but stellar up to this point, and Ivar Bjornson is a god.
