So what are some other places you'd recommend?

Madrid and its nearby historical cities of Toledo, Valladolid and Salamanca. Barcelona, San Sebastian, Santander, Sevilla, Granada and Malaga should be enough for cities (there are more depending on time) If you're going to Valencia then check out Benidorm its probably the biggest holiday resort in Europe, super tacky but an experience. The island of Majorca is in easy reach as well. If you like mountains then the Sierra Nevada which backdrops Granada is amazing. You have to visit Andulacia which is stereotypical Spain and the cities of Granada, Sevilla and Malaga, its my favourite region of Spain.

Spain can be split into various climates and types of regions. For example the Mediterranean region that covers the south and east coasts, has a Californian type climate but far more humid but not like Florida. The large central area that encompasses Madrid etc is dry and hot in summer and dry and cold in winter, then there is the north and north west which is very green and some parts of it actually have more rain than the UK! In fact you'd think you were in the UK and not in Spain.

Culturally the country is very diverse with several regions with their own identity and language.

Is that a reference to the Clash or to ETA?

The Clash. Don't even know what "ETA" is supposed to refer to.

ETA= Euskadi Ta Askatasuna. A Basque nationalist/terrorist movement that used to like planting bombs similiar to the IRA.
