When the master of riffs is paired with the voice of rock, you don't need no stinking production values.

I just listened to...

Impaled Nazarene - Blood Is Thicker Than Water.

The instrumentals sound like a fairly traditional rock song and are pleasant enough. So the only "black metal" attribute of this song seems to be the growled vocals (and morose subject matter).

Try as I might to remain serious, I end up giggling when I listen to this song, because, goll dang, doesn't that man sound almost exactly like Cookie Monster??

Noisy, loud, messy, ****ty and amazing 1st wave black metal. This is cave man metal at it's finest.

Holy god! I'm having one of those moments where a song just takes hold of you and won't let you go listen to anything else until you've gotten it out of your system. Perfect old school death/thrash. This song never gets above mid-pace, but it feels like it's about to at any moment, and it just gives it this atmosphere of imminent threat. Not to mention the production is just the perfect balance of rawness and clarity. Never sounds polished, but it hits at just the right amount of heaviness. Just monstrous.

SATYRICON - The Pentagram Burns
Nice bassline and demonic melody.

I was surprised to learn that Satyricon is composed of only two members ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satyricon_(band ). I especially like watching the drummer, "Frost," because he looks like he's getting a great workout. Kinda reminds me of the muppet, "Animal."

Drummers Frost and Animal...twins? I vote yes.

Animal from The Muppets
(Playing and Singing a song called "V" (Five) from the Swiss grindcore band Mumakil's 2006 album, Customized Warfare):

Not bad...Sounds like Brutal Truth. This one's a bit sludgier than their normal fare.
