Known for their heavy/power metal in the eighties, this was off Savatage's EP The Dungeons Are Calling, and is as close to thrash as they ever went, and boy does it ****ing destroy.

And, while not funeral doom, some great death doom I'd kick myself for not recommending...

These guys are pretty amazing. They never got to record an actual album, but it doesn't matter, their sound was perfect for demos. They sound like Hellhammer and Sabbath had a cancerous demon child. Atmospheric and lo-fi as all hell.

...
I really like that Ahab track!

As far as funeral doom goes, I honestly haven't heard much. I remember checking out a couple bands a few years ago but nothing jumped out at me. If you have any recommendations for someone who likes their doom thick n fuzzy I'd love to hear them.
Meh, here are the doom bands I've been listening to the most lately:

Coffins - Sacrifice to Evil Spirit ---- death/doom from Japan.

Habsyll - I ---- experimental extreme metal stuff. I have this on tape, because I am awesome.

I think we have very different tastes in drummers. The drumming on that Coffins song completely torpedoed whatever positive assets that track might have had for me, and the Faustcoven song, which was pretty good, was nearly ruined by the more upbeat percussion moments. I did like the Habsyll track though and I could see where Faustcoven has potential.

^^^ yeah, honestly I can go any way on drumming. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Colleen Green, which is like lo-fi girl pop punk with simple drum machine beats.

Anyways, if you like Habsyll, check out Aun. They did a split with Habsyll, I can't find any of their tracks on youtube but they're on spotify. More drone than doom, but good.

You don't really need more than that. All their songs pretty much sound the same. Not that they don't rule, they're just not a band that ever really evolved.
