I'd be totally down for Bolt Thrower to have switched to being a stoner/sludge band. They wouldn't change anything about their sound, just stretch their songs to 10 minutes. **** yeah.

The IVth Crusade has been a Bolt Thrower album I haven't liked as much as other albums for a while but I think it's permeating my consciousness now. Earlier albums were still losing the grind influence, and this was the first one that was truly grind free, and later albums refined more and more the melodic riffs that would set off their songs and make you go "WHOA THAT'S SICK!!!" But The IVth Crusade is the purest and most primitive form of Bolt Thrower's signature sound and that rumbling myopia gives it a density and purity of sound that, while not being my favorite form of their sound, is still highly satisfying and just feels like tanks crushing your bitchass hamlet.

I'm glad that it exists and I hope that I'm scratching the surface of my love for it rather than settling on it being an 8/10 stepping stone album to the even greater heights of For Victory, Mercenary, and mother****ing Those Once Loyal.
