Bro, you hear that? That is the sound of a modern thrash band not being led around on a leash like dogs by Century Media or Roadrunner.

Reminded me of this. Bought this well album almost twenty years ago I guess and I believe it was Eric Peterson and Steve DiGiorgio and a couple other The Gathering-era Testament members (sans Chuck Billy) trying their hand at ripping off Dimmu Borgir but still somehow sounding like The Gathering-era Testament. I remember it being a fun throwaway relic of its time.

Oh **** I remember this being my fav song off the album when I was like 17 or so and it's still fairly fun. I'm lol'ing at people in the comments section calling this black metal. It doesn't even sound at all different than The Gathering. It just has schmaltzy keyboards and Eric Peterson is trying to sound like Dani Filth. That's literally the only even slightly black metal thing about it but some ****ing people...

Void. I think I bought that album around the same time I bought Master of Reality so one always reminds me of the other.

I'll always consider Iced Earth to be one of the best melodic metal bands ever but also one who always let a true classic album pass them by. Night of the Stormrider should have been their Maiden killer but their singer was cut rate, then Burnt Offerings had some great songs but wasn't consistent and clearly a transition album while the band figured out what they could do with Barlow, and then they became a gimmick band. A great gimmick band, but still a band who was like "90s Metallica is popular and so is Spawn so let's milk that", they almost did it with Something Wicked this Way Comes but I think the 90s Metallica had done too much damage to their sound and they just released a really good rather than truly classic album, and then they descended further into not having any ideas with an album about old horror movies, and then... yeah that's enough analysis. If they'd gotten Barlow in the band in time for Night of the Stormrider and figured out what to do with him I think they could have recorded a truly definitive metal album that people would actually talk about past the 00's.
