To admit that they perfected fun in metal.

I mean come one this is just pure happiness and they had a pop influence that was unique and engaging and integrated with their sound in a way that I don't think literally any metal band has ever successfully emulated to any degree almost at all.

They're neither fun nor metal.

I **** on them in the context of the big four but Anthrax is probably the most fun metal band.

I'll agree that Anthrax were super fun and Spreading the Disease was one of the most fun metal albums ever made but they didn't have the pop/metal sophistication that Van Halen did.

"pop/metal sofisticashun" doesn't have a monopoly on fun metal. Plus, that'd probably be Priest or something.

Have you actually listened to their whole debut? I mean even if you haven't you've heard at least half of it on the radio ten million times, but the context of hearing every song one after the other and how they all form a sound you don't quite appreciate by listening to those songs separately on the radio makes the whole album something way more special than you'd imagine if you haven't actual listened to it.

Like I can totally understand being over Van Halen or thinking they're bland, but it's... an edifying experience to hear the debut properly I suppose.

And naw as much as I dig Priest they do not have the same perfect, 50/50 split of metal and pop that can not be replicated by any band but Van Halen.

No lie, I've heard it hundreds of times at this point. I'm familiar with the schtick.

Then I'm sorry you don't hear the brilliance cause it's kind of exquisite. It's not even something I would compare to Randy Rhoads or any other 80s metal band or even 70s metal band tbh. They have their own thing that is divorced from glam metal or trad heavy metal or anything else in that wheelhouse.

It's okay, it's not your fault that Van Halen is mediocre.
