absolutely savage new FoH album, destructive as ever but more advanced a bit

either way it's so heavy it has it's own gravitational pull

The problem with mosh parts in metal and punk is that moshing has become a trope. It's the thing you do when you're at a show like going on a roller coaster at a carnival. It's safe, expected danger. But the whole point of moshing is that it's supposed to actually be physically dangerous, and the whole point of mosh parts in songs is that they're supposed to make you want to hurt someone in a visceral, worrying kind of way. If all a mosh part does is make you want to mosh then the band is handing you your carnival ticket rather than grabbing your subconscious by the throat. Bands like Homewrecker know to throw down a mosh part that drags your inner psychopath out with or without your consent and it is ugly and glorious and this song is pure violence.

This was the album from 2013 that I think I checked out because of Anteater when it came out and made me go back and reevaluate Fates Warning and it's still fire.

Anteater 07-15-2019 09:50 PM

Kind of a diamond in the rough, that one. It's easily the best album they've done since Parallels from 1991 and none of their newer stuff post-Darkness In A Different Light has measured up either.

It's really satisfying when an older metal band manages to come out with something legitimately good after years (or decades in some cases) of middling material.
