Obscure heavy metal band from Buffalo that I found this CD at a thrift store. Pretty damn good stuff, pretty classic sound but with some beefy guitar riffs to let you know that this is indeed a metal album from the 2000's. |

First listen of a 2019 album, let's see how it goes. Haven't heard any of these guys' stuff after Stillborn. Sounds awesome so far though. EDIT: Unfortunately the rest of the album nowhere near measures up to the first song, which has such a killer hook. Most of the album is boring and monotonous, which is unfortunate coming from an old school giant. 'Trapped Inside' is interesting though, it has kind of an Anvil-esque riff put in a death metal setting. The last song 'Release the Soul' is good too. now I am on a new in 2019 chance listen, out of all bands who have released something new, I checked this one out fast, and so far sounds pretty interesting.

This has always been a go to album but recently it's reached the heights of a top 10 metal album and I can't leave it alone for longer than a week. The riffs are just so razor sharp and perfectly understand how to balance heaviness, catchiness, and that intangible thing where the notes logically flow from one to the next in a way that feels fluid and visceral (the last being what separates the debut from the rest of Vio-lence's discography). I mean if you don't think the opening title track is the perfect thrash song or at least a perfect representation of thrash then we have irreconcilable differences and you can't marry my daughter.

This is one of those album covers that are so terrible that they're amazing. This is perfect, because most of the music from this time period in this scene is the same way.
Anyway, this is what I'm listening to. Simply incredible World War I-themed blackened death metal. Y'all really gotta check this out.
