I'm going to the gym tonight, so I'll listen then. Thanks for the rec.
Didn't care for that Slipknot debut album. It was alright, and listenable, but didn't grab me. Still need to check out Mudvayne.

Their s/t and Iowa has a few decent tracks but everything else sucks, even their debut which for some reason has been receiving more positive attention over the years.
Mushroomhead's the only nu metal band I'd **** with and even then they're pretty corny and middle school boyish. Korn's bassist's style is pretty ****ing dope, shame about the rest of the group.

I've never delved very far into nu metal but that's because the amount and depths of trash make exploration into a mind numbing chore I can't be bothered with for more than an hour every six months or so.

I just really like the IDEAS I can see within nu metal.
- Experimentation with elements from other genres such as funk, electronic, hip hop, and more - Hardcore-esque breakdowns - Harsh vocals - Unusual percussion instruments - Lyrical themes similar to death metal I mean... it should be a home run. I honestly think that we could see some of the best elements of the genre making their way back into underground metal. I feel that today's wild genre-less exploration, done by kids raised on the internet and without as many of the same cultural boundaries, will start showing nu-metalish experiments that will be totally ****ing badass. I'm need those trap 808s.

Nu metal has death metal lyrics? I must have missed that Saliva song.
