On the early albums, yeah, something like that.

A few of their later albums were more general rock/pop hybrids.

No Doubt is ****ing brutal. Depressive suicidal technical atmospheric blackened industrial death-thrash grindcore masters.

I've never been a huge fan of Gwen Stefani's voice but if I'm honest she made them stand out in the 90's alt/pop rock circuit. Not to mention I'm fairly certain the rest of the band are decent musicians themselves. Might pick up the album again sometime in the future.

I see you're a fan of their debut album. Not many people know of that one. *hipster high-five*

It's a band I came back to more recently, somehow. I used to listen to them as a teen, then grew out of it. Return of Saturn is my fave album of theirs, but generally regarded as their worst album. Oh well.

And I could see getting annoyed with Stefani's voice. Back when Don't Speak was super overplayed on the radio, even I had enough of her.

Of course, I keep an ear to only the most complex and bizarre music I can find:

Oh well, let's have a big, heated argument over whether No Doubt is metal or not.

In Doubt.

Knuckle dragging thrash brutality perfected. It's too bad most Exodus albums have so much filler but at least we got one mostly solid record besides Bonded By Blood.

Overkill is a band that annoys me when it comes to their filler ratio. Ever since Bloodletting (a circa 2000 album), they've been super inconsistent. But I could assemble a pretty great 12 track album out of the albums they've made from Bloodletting until now.

I don't think it's physically possible for a song to end more apocalyptically badass than this one does. It's not often I'd use the term "violent" to describe a doom metal song but there it is.

The climax reminds me vaguely of this:
