****ing love this performance of the song. The music sounds huge with headphones on. So heavy, but so beautiful.
New live recording of an older song of theirs. Dir En Grey - DIR EN GREY - AUDIENCE KILLER LOOP TOUR18 SHINSEKAI [30.06.2018] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYbks2THTGQ |

All the fun energy in the world. Early thrash and speed metal was the definitive era in metal.

![]() ![]() Never Say Never has one of the coolest and most fun to play basslines in all of metal history, DD Verni goes strangely underrated in talks of great metal bassists: Years of Decay is my favorite, but Under the Influence is a real close second. Shred, Never Say Never, Hello From the Gutter, Brainfade, Drunken Wisdom, and Head First especially are god-tier. Last edited by Unitron; 11-12-2018 at 12:11 AM. |

Under the Influence was a step down for Overkill tbh. Doesn't have the balls out energy of their earlier albums and the tunes weren't quite as on point as later albums. Still a good album.

Rob Dukes wasn't a GOAT frontman or anything and it's a no-win situation to follow Baloff and Zetro but he had copious amounts of attitude that still came through when he was screaming his head off and it worked for a band like Exodus. I say underrated.

And brutal **** like this makes me wonder why anyone looks to Vektor as being the leading light of modern thrash. Vektor can suck my dick, this is one of the most badass songs ever recorded and shows that Pantera and Machine Head never quite had the right idea in mind for post-thrash.

Vektor has always been boring as ****. Exodus was making crushing thrash godliness upon the day of their reformation and kept on. Tempo of the Damned, Shovel Headed Kill Machine, and Atrocity Exhibition A (at least, I haven't listened to their later stuff as much) were everything that thrash should be in the new millennium.
Vektor is like the idea that the stereotype of thrash could still be cool if you just ignored that a few decades had happened and tempered your expectations for a retro band. 2000's Exodus allows for no nostalgia and simply smashes you in the face with a sledgehammer and eats your broken teeth. **** Vektor.

I have this track on one of my go to playlists for work. It totally gets my nuts on tingle.
