If I had to pick one COB track, this would be it:

There's no point in trying something new. They've done everything they're going to do. They're the kind of band who only exist for one album of skin deep fun. Hate Crew Deathroll is the only album I need from them and 99% will always be so.

If I could move the song above and maybe 1-2 other songs to Hatecrew Deathroll, I'd probably do just fine with that one as well.

The one thing they're memorable for afaic is bringing keyboards back to mainstream metal, but anything CoB do isn't really creative so much as notably fun.

Wasn't Opeth already doing that or are they not mainstream enough?

I could probably only get some nostalgia enjoyment out of Are You Dead Yet these days since I bumped it in middle school.

Am I being taken to task over my Children of Bodom fandom? Is this a thing that's happening?

Sure why not

I like the one album really, other than that it's all songs that do or don't suck. Which is bull**** since they have a really simply sound that should be easy to milk a few albums out of, but no, they have to suck so much. Either they're making boring power metal with lame aggro vocals or they're doing some lame approximation of that sound with lame chugging. There was such a small window of good music in there that I'm not even sure how they pulled it off in the first place.

Ja they's inconsistent.

They certainly do suck a lot. I got into them a little bit before Blooddrunk came out and liked the title track of that because of I was familiarized with it through the video but couldn't get into the rest of the record. Ironically the extreme metal elements that would make me appreciate the record more today are what made me dislike it.

OMG they're inconsistent. I'd love them to be the kind of band who could toe that line of just making new age thrash by hanging around melodeath, thrash, and cock rock, but they really can't and are probably exactly the kind of band who would try (i.e. decent but nothing more). But they have enough moments to make me wish they could be more.

Probably same. This is why I'm all about Hate Crew Deathroll. It does all the things I want from the band while not doing all the things I don't want them to do. They managed to come correct on one album and so I'll dick suck just for that.
