Lethal thrash.

All Out War are the fugliest of metalcore bands. Nothing much here but metal riffs mixed with the rawest, most primitive beatdown NYHC. If you've heard thirty seconds of any one song you've pretty much heard the whole album, but even though the band has no sophistication they have riffs, breakdowns, and horrendously bad tempers to make up for it. Extra props to the horrendous production that fits the music like a glove you found in a dirty alley.

Holy **** Ringworm are the ****ing savagest. Like, the best hardcore, metalcore, and thrash band from the 90s onward or some ****.

One thing that metalcore doesn't get praised for due to its bad reputation is that the good stuff has an immediacy that feels like musical warfare, with all of the massive artillery barrages, splayed intestines, and bayonets to the liver that that statement implies. Combining hardcore punk with metal riffs is bound to induce violence, and Maroon are absolutely violent and immediate as **** in a way that death metal, black metal, and thrash metal simply are not the majority of the time, even if Maroon are not a better band than the 1st rate of those genres. It's simply a result of the genre that immediacy rules. Jesus Christ this feels like the soundtrack to a violent stabbing.

Totally repping this as my next great love. This album, Arkangel's Dead Man Walking, and Stampin' Ground's A New Darkness are my top 3 for straightforwardly brutal metalcore.
