And you're forgetting Machine Head's first album, which is the quintessential groove metal album afaic, putting to shame even the best of Pantera even if Robb Flynn doesn't have the versatility of Phil Anselmo. It's too long in the tooth for how limited a sound it has, but holy Jesus is it one of the heaviest albums ever. At least half the album is godlike. I could give a **** about the rest of their career, even if Through the Ashes of Empire and The Blackening are still nice, but Burn My Eyes is still amazing. They will never top it, even if only for the guitar tone of ultimate destruction. I'm still offended by talking to fans of the band who hadn't even heard it. Poseurs.
