I'm becoming obsessed with Cannibal Corpse's The Bleeding album. It's just so catchy while still being brutal and ****ed up as hell. *hugs The Bleeding*

GOATLORD - Reflections Of the Solstice
An evil and sludgy mix of blackened death/doom circa 1991… The murky production here is perfect..

However, every couple years I find myself listening to Six Feet Under's Warpath album (which I actually bought on CD). I'm sometimes a sucker for death + groove. I like Entombed for the same reason. Anyway, dunno about y'all but when I hear random mediocre stuff on the radio I'm usually more open to it. Here's a band I never thought I liked until I heard this song played on the radio by some local DJ... I Am Abomination by 1349:

Listening to this song:
This one was always one of my favorite Slayer songs, and one I think is under appreciated in some ways. It, along with "Spill the Blood", rank as my favorite Slayer songs actually. Listening to it tonight, I think it is basically just a rewrite of "Seasons in the Abyss", the 2 songs have a few things in common. Even a touch of "Dead Skin Mask" perhaps. Has a similar feel at bits... the latter maybe more in theme, seeing as how they are both about killers (Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer). But anyways, I always loved this song. Out of nostalgia as well, since "Divine Intervention" was my first metal purchase.

Yeah, I confess to liking "Haunted" by Six Feet Under. Sure, it was just a lite version of Obituary mostly, and was not that great of an album.... but it has this crappy charm to it, that makes me wanna listen to it whenever I put it on.
Six Feet Under is that band I shouldn't like, but I do... like a b-movie version of Death Metal. Six Feet Under would probably be the Troma of that, or at least the Full Moon Entertainment version. Either way, I find "Haunted" to be a fun, no brainer kinda album that is just fun to listen to from time to time. I remember hearing it back in 1995 when some kid in my class handed me a copy and said "this may be more your thing". Fell in love with its hilarity back then, and still find it just as humorous when I hear it now. If "Haunted" were a movie, it would be the equivalent to "The Room". Some of my favorites: Good mid paced Groove influenced Death Metal. Okay, so they copied [I guess when 2 members of Obituary are in your band, you can say "recycled" instead of "copied] this riff from: but I still like this one. and of course: Still like this one as well, great groove to it. But yeah, "Haunted" is still fun. In some circles I would be laughed out of the Death Metal club for admitting I find them to be good here, but whatever.

You know, the first time I ever listened to this album years ago, I thought it was just pure noise, and have been avoiding Cryptopsy ever since. But just today, I decided to give it another chance, and I guess I've been desensitized enough to "pure noise" that it just sounds like the perfect death metal album now. Go figure.
