I wish Varg's early albums didn't have so much ambient, cause the **** that I do like is fantabulous. Not saying I hate the ambient stuff, but I just wish he'd have released it separately and not jammed in longass dirges that have nothing to do with the rest of the album. It keeps me from having any Burzum albums in a top 10 or even a top 50. Daudi Baldrs and Hildskjalf are underrated btw.

In any case I think I'm gonna listen to a bunch of Burzum today cause I need a break from pop and more traditional metal.

A little Funeral Doom on a rainy morning. Pairs nicely with coffee and a stack of technical changes to 3 different valve specifications... kill me now.

Some savage, fun, offbeat deathgrind.

Debut aside Sacred Reich were one of those Headbanger's Ball thrash bands who were on the more commercially viable side (Suicidal Tendencies, Nuclear Assault, Death Angel's 2nd and 3rd albums, Anthrax, etc). I'm never sure just how much those bands naturally came to that sound or whether they just liked to be able to afford a roof over their head AND food. Regardless it can be a pretty ****ing fun style of thrash when it doesn't get too tepid or dumbed down for its own good.

I'm not the biggest Suicidal Tendencies fan by any means, but How Will I Laugh Tomorrow... When I Can't Even Smile Today is still kind of a perfect storm of melodic crossover skate thrash.

One of the best US metal releases of 80s.

Coroner might just be one of my favourite thrash metal bands.

They really should be. Irrelevant vocals aside they have guitar work to murder for.

Yes, their guitar work is amazing. Mental Vortex is probably their best though.
