Thanks for the welcome Batlord. \m/

I’m currently listening to the Frozen Shadows demo “Empires de Glace” I got in the mail yesterday. Cold, Emperor inspired Canadian bm done the right way.

A Korean skinhead (as in, "oi!", not "88!") turned me onto this Japanese band called Strong Blossom.

The vocals are distorted but some how melodic; or, at least, he's able to change pitch & tone enough that it comes off as similar to melody, ditto for the backing gang-vocals. The guitars are melodic, as well.... yet this is aggressive music.

The best analogy I can think of is later Absurd.

Solid track.
Not really metal but I can kind of see what you mean about Absurd.

NP Goatmoon’s Varjot album.
Goatmoon move further away from the raw, abrasive Death Before Dishonour towards a cleaner, more melodic and even folkier side which also has some later Absurd similarities.

Listening to my favorite Slayer song of all-time.

I do not know what it is about this one. But it is their best to me, an extremely underrated song by them in my mind.

"South of Heaven" is my second favorite Slayer album (after "Hell Awaits") and this song is a large reason why.

my #2 favorite:

"Divine Intervention" is the first album I bought in the metal genre, and remains a classic to me for that reason. While I wouldn't rank it best of Slayer, I would rank it best of the Bostaph era of Slayer. Just could benefit from some better production, but songs like "Killing Fields", "Divine Intervention" and "213" are all amazing.

I love Paul Bostaph's drumming, its a pity he just ends up getting compared to Dave Lombardo all the time (but I suppose its inevitable)

I too enjoy Bostaph's drumming, I thought he was amazing. Of course he would be compared to Lombardo, can't just take that guys place without being compared to him.

While I do not think Bostaph was as good as Lombardo at playing the tracks from the Lombardo years, he had a style all his own that he did well on.

The drumming on this is incredible

Sure incredible drumming and no thrash band really picks up the momentum quite like Slayer, the drumming and guitars are glued together with Tom Araya' s voice.

I’m currently listening to Mortuary Drape’s “Into the Drape” EP.
Recommended for anyone who likes their bm with a dark, creepy atmosphere (not too far from Mercyful Fate if they were bm) and isn’t afraid of prominent bass and guitar solos..
