Probably the only band that could be described as 'djent' that is worth a damn:
Ben was only 18-19 when he wrote the majority of this, way back in 2006-2007. Used to be on the SMN boards with him and guys like Mischa and Jake from Periphery. We might be unintentionally responsible for a truly awful sub-genre of metal, but like with all sub-genres, a couple groups get it right. (the fact that Blood Music released this should tell you how good it is - seriously, the owner has fantastic taste. Even their synth groups are great).

Think I just found a lost NWOBHM classic. Some hype-as-**** heavy/speed metal.

And I think I've finally decided that The Michael Schenker Group are rad. Took me a while, but I've been getting way more into post-Sabbath/pre-Metallica metal anyways.

I mean, Michael Schenker was still a better guitarist than songwriter, and Iron Maiden would steal his riff from "Armed and Ready" and create "Two Minutes to Midnight" with which to prove him obsolete, so I don't suppose so. But MSG still had some awesome tunes.

These dudes seriously need to ditch the singer and find someone willing to take some chances like the rest of the band is.

If Seventh Son of a Seventh Son wasn't such a good album I'm sure it would be widely derided for being so cartoonishly pompous.

I haven't thought about Bölzer in a while and I'm only recently discovering their first full length release, so I checked it out, and kinda was underwhelmed. It's not bad but it really didn't have a lot that stuck with me, which is a shame. Looking back to Aura, which is a seriously great release with a lot of memorable moments packed into a short EP that I always wished was longer. A really cool mildly progressive black/death metal meshing with great emphasis in nelody and atmosphere and like everything else that makes music. Maybe Hero will grow on me but first listen wasn't particularly stellar, more unexciting than not throughout, it feels way more reserved and that doesn't quite work for me
