Ah hell yeah! Cynic's releasing a demo comp! This could be the best metal comp in death metal history when you realize these two demos will be on it.





Their '91 demo in particular makes my head spin it's so complicated. I got to remember to pre-order this.

Been on an Anthem binge past couple days. Possibly the best of the original Japanese heavy metal / power metal groups.

They're still Dream Theater, and they're still cringey, but that album at least has actual balls.

Images & Words is still their ballsiest album though: very unique sounding album back in 1992. Power metal-ish opener that leads directly into a ballad with a sax solo? Pretty interesting. Plus lots of keyboard tones you didn't hear other bands using back then, crazy musicianship, etc. There was no other band that sounded like them at that point.

If it's ballsy to embrace lameness then they are the Bear Grylls of metal.
