I know they have at least the same vocalist from Deadguy, which had members from Rorschach, so they're on the same evolutionary tree of awesomeness.

I generally don't care about lyrics but I got curious about Death's "Living Monstrosity" and I think it's actually got pretty clever lyrics. It's not gory but it still uses the aggression, malevolence, and grotesque imagery of death metal to parody the attitudes of many toward people with drug addiction. Death ****ing rule.

Quote:

The guilty one, innocent she now cries
A life of hell, better off to die
Born without eyes, hands, and half a brain
Being born addicted to cocaine

Living monstrosity
A freak for life they'll always be
Never knowing love or hate
Only pain the drug creates

Some say she's naive, she's a stupid bitch
Some say to forgive, guilty she should die

I guess you could call this power thrash, but it's more like a power metal band playing straight tech thrash. It's got all the aggression of thrash, but with the melodicism of power metal mostly intact, and a power metal vocalist who can somehow do both at the same time. I'm not sure just how many bands have been able to toe this line so effectively and seamlessly. It's a shame American power metal never really survived grunge. Or survived thrash for that matter.

Well from one Sanctuary fan to another, I've got some news for next month I think you'll like:

I heard. It's actually been a hot minute since I even listened to them. I didn't even know they had any new albums in the first place. Gonna have to give that **** a listen.

https://aerakra.bandcamp.com/album/ferne-tage you could probably imagine how badly I wanted to come in here and talk about this black metalcore hybrid being sicker than rural Africa, but that would unfortunately not be true. Number one, it doesn't really go the way I'd like it to in the first place, and number two it still had a lotta room for improvement even then. It could be hella boss, but it often drags on phrases that also happen to be the least interesting parts of the music, where all the slaying moments come and go before I can even start masturbating to them.

It's also post rock as **** in a boring way, and melodic -core as **** in a gay way. You could compare it to Oathbreaker probably, but they cut all the coolness to leave us with the lame aspects for the most part. It's like a 6/10 or something. Though you can count on each song having at least one cool riff and/or breakdown. I guess I'll listen to their other release
