Legendary demo from underground Latin American act. Euronymous from Mayhem was impressed by these hot Peruvian macho men.

If there's more **** this nice then there's a chance I might be able to get into slam death metal. Like all the least classy aspects of Suffocation and Dying Fetus distilled into something that's somehow the jumping off point to the genre. But those breakdowns and chugging slam riffs are tasty as ****.
Might actually have to rec this to Qwerty after our Despised Icon talk.

this is a prime blend of 'murican melo/atmo-black metal with medieval folk. i'm normally not a fan of melodic metal but these guys' do it tastefully and manage to still keep a little bit of bark behind their sound. the medieval moments totally remind me of Burzum which is a mega plus.

Holy ****, second slam death metal album I like and it's ****ing sick. Brutal as **** and does not at all sound like goregrind in both sound and production. I think that's basically the key. This has potential to become an all-time fav DM album tbh.

I've liked Severe Torture for a good while now, but never really listened to that much of them. With all the brutal death metal I've been listening to these dudes are sounding surprisingly distinct. A lot of this kind of death metal is either chaotic tech death that does too many things at once without actually writing songs, and some of it is meatheaded chugging **** that's all breakdowns and hitting you in the face with a lot of mid-paced riffs before some blast'n'grind, but it's not often I find brutal death metal that sounds... stripped down but not dumbed down, I suppose.
They play fast and throw in blast beats, but they keep the grindcore maniac stuff to a relative minimum, and they don't do it for long when they do, while also not devolving into deathcore-ish thumping. This album seems to be more about riffs that sound really ****ing cool and writing good songs with them in a way that absolutely slays rather than using gimmicks like technicality or br00tality. It's very meat and potatoes, but not dumb, mature, but not pretentious at all.

Holy ****, Severe Torture are just insanely awesome! But why haven't they released an album since 2010?!

TFW you're not even trying and accidentally find the best death metal band ever to drink to. Obviously I already knew about and loved Malevolent Creation but it never crossed my mind to break them out and crack open a beer. Happy is I.
So if you dig getting trashed while listening to death metal with a heavy thrash metal influence then you could not possibly go wrong with this.
