Because of the way that things are conventionally mixed, bad vocals stand out way more than a bad guitarist or drummer would.

I like their vocals; it's hard to hate anything that takes that much effort. I was just explaining why I find bad vocals so grating.

Is this black metal? Death doom? I don't know, but the riffs are so ****ing good that my house's foundation just shifted.
