Don't listen to this album much if at all anymore, but this was one of the few deathcore releases I actually got behind even when I was listening to stuff like this. And this song is as good as anything any true death metal band has ever come up with.

I think thrash metal is my favorite genre of metal, and this song is one of the best I've heard. It's elite, riff-centric thrash metal, as high energy as anything Artillery did.

Easily my favourite metal album to be released so far this year. These guys' are 3 for 3 now with every single release I've heard from them being nothing less than mind blowing. You get your head banging, rifftastic thrash elements, some always impressive progressive and technical instrumentation, and to top it off some of the most hideous, alien-like vocals I've ever heard from a thrash band. Do yourself a favour and check this album out immediately.

Holy ****ing ****bitch. I completely forgot that Goatsnake's first album in eleven years (2015) had been just sitting on my hard drive until I just stumbled upon it earlier today. This is good god damn stoner metal. The song is kind of reserved at first (though you only realize this in hindsight), and then it just turns mean. That same riff you've been slowly banging your head to, is now snapping your neck.

And I love how their singer hasn't lost any of his glorious voice in a decade. Please, god, let this band release another album.

Maybe I'm having a weird day, maybe they're starting to rub off on me, or maybe TBDM's debut was just more raw and badass than their later ones, but this is actually pretty ****ing sweet.

Possessed's Seven Churches was the first death metal album I ever heard, but Altars of Madness was the first DM album I ever liked. Even today, it still seems strange to me that blast beats are considered a fixture of grindcore and not so much death metal, cause that album was chock full of, and probably the first time I'd ever heard them. It always makes me happy to hear a death metal album with blast beats, just cause it feels... right.

Pretty much everything that I hear in any death metal album I compare to this album, it is so influential to my idea of what the genre is. As it should be. The main riff to this song was actually my ringtone until I took pity upon the losers around me. I might actually change it back right now out of spite.

And of course, forever until the end of time... Altars of Madness > Covenant

Edit: OMFG this ****ing song!!! God I love this album!

What'd I tell you? That album is a stellar, heavy, and super solid. It's their heaviest and most complex

So it's all downhill from there? Cause heaviest and most complex or not, it's also got their best Gothenburg DM moments that I can think of. So are they just better at everything they are associated with doing on their debut?
