I thought their debut was cool, but Congress' follow-up is just ****ing punishing. With more brutal riffs, less watered-down Slayer worship, and a much heavier production, The Other Cheek is my new fav H8000 record (late-90's Belgian metalcore scene). Move over Liar's Invictus.

Very cool collaboration.

Why do these guys play so slow? They must suck at their instruments if they play this slow. Dragonforce>>>>>>>>>

Oooh, I didn't know about this. Nice.

Wow I don't know what happened today that changed my perspective on Suffocation so much, ordinarily they are a band I only like a few songs from, but I played this just now and I can't stop playing it.

I must learn how to replicate vocals like this.

I'm not sure what's the best thing about Gorerotted: the music or the rhyming song titles.

I can't think of another death metal album with production this dense. It's almost like death metal in mono. I'm sure people who just want to hear a bunch of tech wank would probably say that it swamps the instruments or some ****, but it also makes technical death metal far more brutal than it ever is. No matter how technical this album is, it is brutal and heavy and ****ed up far more. Frank Mullen's vocals were also never this evil.

There's also a sense of melancholy there that one would normally associate with death/doom, not brutal death metal. I don't know how this band manages to channel diSEMBOWELMENT through brutal death metal, but they do.

With a little heavier production, and John Tardy from Obituary on vocals, this album would go from awesome, to truly majestic. As awesome as it is, the tad-too-lightweight production and dated vocals bring it down. The vocoder vocals can definitely stay though.

But seriously, how awesome would this song be with John Tardy?
