As always, Mondo comes with the PV fire. I was surprised to find that this was a newer band, as they have a sound that made me think of mid-nineties powerviolence, but they definitely rip like some mother****ers. I had to download the album to really hear the awesomeness since Youtube always, always, always makes powerviolence always sounds like **** (probably why I thought they were an older band, since those groups had awful production values), but the Cut & Paste blog is God for just about anything punk/hardcore/powerviolence/grindcore/etc, so I now hear them in all their glory. Good ****ing ****. Is it worth listening to their non-comp releases? I don't know why almost every single PV band of even vague note all seem to have career retrospective comps in the vein of Minor Threat's Complete Discography, but they're kind of a godsend. Without them I don't know that I would have known where to start with the mid-nineties, OG bands, and therefore may not have discovered just how ****ing amazing Despise You were. P.S. - PM me with some recs for the best PV bands I can't be expected to hear without a year of extensive digging. RYM is certainly helpful, but I would never have discovered thedowngoing or The Endless Blockade without you. I want to travel the country with you and get AIDs from transvestite hookers while you watch and jerk off (and vice verse of course). Then we can be gay, AIDS buddies.

Pretty sure the Pissedography has everything up to a certain point (think they've released more after that). And props for going to the cut & paste blog. I would've sent you there earlier had I remembered. My definite favorite blog of all time, perhaps tied with this one Mortuus in Somnis <-- pretty much as extensive as c&p, but for black metal and stuff like that. When I had regular computer access I visited cutnpaste almost daily just waiting for updates. but yeah, they don't have The EB and some other stuff, I'll see what I can do. I'll take a stroll through my last.fm library.
Man, I'm pretty much over having destroyed/lost my computer (and like 90% of my wardrobe), but times like this I look back on all the music that was on there, and it's just like.... **** p.s. Bucket full of Teeth were one of my first loves |

This is such a fun song/album. Too bad so many metalheads are so reactionary against inserting pop into metal.

OMG I need a ****ing break from all the prog metal. Even when I like it I can only take so much, especially when I've been listening to god damn Dream Theater beforehand.
Dear god, I used to think it was cool that Iced Earth made a concept album about Spawn. Then I read Spawn. Michael Schaffer is a ****ing dweeb. Still a fun album, though.

I'm conflicted over Machine Head, since I see Robb Flynn as a guy who is more a trend chaser than an innovator, but is still great at following trends. Vio-lence were as original as sliced bread, but Eternal Nightmare is still one of the greatest thrash albums ever, and while "Davidian" is basically a Pantera knockoff, it's still one of the most badass metal songs of all time.
