Cannot wait for Tessaracts new album. This new song is all sorts of awesome. I have the rest of this month, and then getting through September and October before I get to see these guys in November. If you like these guys, be very jealous of me.

Well, I figured Batty. I think I already got your low down on Tessaract, not really your bag. I don't recall you calling them horrible, or maybe you did. They are a bit djenty, got a pretty prominent Prog influence too. But the mix how they do it, I think I understand why you wouldn't care for the band.

Shockingly, this is the first time I hear this. Perhaps I am overly cautious because I know that nothing they release can sound as good as Dopesmoker. The vocals are very similar to Om, and I might prefer it to Al's vocals on Dopesmoker. That drone-y riff is real nice, and the rest of it is growing on me. The solo sounds...misplaced. Perhaps Pike forgot he's not recording material for High On Fire. |

Coroner - Grin
Been going through my CDs lately and gave this another listen. An interesting band - mostly active in the 80s, this is from '93 but they still very much feel like an 80s band to me - rather than follow any of the emerging sub-genres of the time they slowed down a bit and refined what they did. The production is great, everything is super clear in the mix. There's some great stuff here, unfortunately there are flaws that prevent it from being a truly classic metal album imo - namely the vocals don't really do much and the second half of the album doesn't really measure up to the quality of the first. However if you haven't heard this definitely give the first few tracks a spin.

I Google image searched, "fuck yeah venom", but all I got was a bunch of Spider-Man ****. I went all the way down to gay South Park porn before giving up. But Venom rules.

Still one of the best things I've ever heard. So simple, yet so badass.
