I think they're still pretty popular over here, at least they got a whole lot of attention when they released their second album last year. It even peaked at #1 on the Norwegian Album Chart.

I've been listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins lately. Especially the Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot albums..soo soo good. There's just something about the song Mayonnaise that gets me. I love Rocket and Hummer too.

Lacuna Coil - One Cold Day - YouTube
I'm really into this new Lacuna Coil album especially this song. Cristina does something to me when she sings.

Their best album, I think 9/10 people would agree.

You know, I had never listened to "Cold Lake" in its entirety before. I do not know, when I hear Glam Metal, I think more of guys dressed up in spandex tights, with big hair and bigger egos. While some times that can be fun, in the same way someone may enjoy a movie like The Room from time to time, on the whole, it is pretty boring and almost embarrassing to see. So for that reason, I steered clear of this album in its entirety for some time.

But now getting to it, it really is not a glam metal album. At least not in the way of Slaughter, Poison, Warrant and so on.... it feels like a regular heavy metal album, with some thrashy riffs (though dumbed down.... see: Sacred Reich). I actually listen to it and think more of a band like Ugly Kid Joe than I do Def Leppard.

It is not a great album by any stretch, the songs all lack variation, and it feels more like one long song, split into 12 parts, so it gets boring after a couple songs. But it sure is not as awful as most of the Metal community make it out to be. I can understand if you compare it to everything else, it is the worst they ever did*, but it is surely not the worst thing to come out of Metal music like many have said.

*okay, barring this demo album...

I thought it wasn't all that terrible until the vocals kicked in. Wow. Like the worst record Rammstein never released.

Their best album. Potentially their only good album though...

^ Good call on The Sword there. They're hit and miss for me, but I like a lot of what I know from them.

Speaking of Tom Warrior and Celtic Frost though, who else is salivating for the new Triptykon album after seeing/hearing this?
