It's ****ing cold outside and I'm seeing my relatives in two days so it seems like a good time for some black metal. Unfortunately I'm two minutes into this and nothing has happened except for random noise and some guy screaming. On the plus side one of the members of this group is the only midget I've ever heard of in a metal band...or any band for that matter.

Metal Church is one of those bands that's easy to dismiss as a bunch of dunderheads without a clue. Not without reason, their name is Metal Church after all, their lyrics are one big cliche, and the singer is pretty embarrassing. But those unwilling to give them a second listen are missing out. They show a surprising amount of sophistication for a band in the hinterland between Iron Maiden and Metallica. They generally don't go pedal-to-the-metal, instead opting for an atmospheric approach that creates a dark mood that speaks of class not to be found with many bands of their ilk. This song is one of the best showcases for this in their catalogue. It's one of those metal songs that manages to be a ballad, yet still be an entirely convincing metal song at the same time, a feat usually only accomplished by Metallica. And their vocalist, cheesy though he may sound, puts in a brilliant performance that brings the dark vibe of the song to another level.

Oh hell the **** yes! I've been waiting for Obliteration to drop album number three for a while now, ever since I heard Nekrospalms, but it's been four years and I was beginning to think they'd broken up. Ugly, old school death metal with a heavy dose of doom that couldn't give a **** about any DM made since Mental Funeral or Cause of Death. And if you don't know what those albums are then **** off.

Metal Church is always in the rotation for me. Their first self titled was my constant companion when I skipped town at a young age. I'm actually thinking about covering this one with a singer from another forum who has a similar voice. Love the main riff on this. Just ****ing massive.

I've had a burned copy op that for years and yes it is fantastic. Even though my copy is still going strong I'm strongly considering buying a copy at the CD store for whenever my copy dies. Besides, how often am I gonna see a Metal Church album in an FYE?

I had mine on cassette, and it's been long gone. I think I had to ditch it when I joined the service. Thankfully, they've made enough of an impact to have their legions keep them alive on yootoob. So at least I got that for now, as well as the few tunes I've managed to acquire like Beyond The Black and Gods Of Wrath.
