You're from Norway right? LOTR is full of old Norse legends. The story of Turin and Glaurung from The Silmarillion is inspired and even lifted at times from Sigurd and Fafnir. Beren and Luthien are Sigurd and Brynhild to the bone. Tolkien was a professor of ancient...stuff, and he was obsessed by that legend. Get with it.

Does that ruin a whole series of books?

No. The Silmarrilion has very little to do with the actual LOTR trilogy. It just tells the history of Middle-Earth.

Shame on you, being from that far north and not being fully aware of the works of Tolkien and his inspirations.

It's so cold and gloomy where you're from, I'd imagine that reading fantasy novels would be a great past-time.

I guess all that shivering makes it hard to hold a book steady.

Oh. I just assumed you were talking about LOTR, that's what I did.
And guys, it's so dark up here it's impossible to read unless it's July, and our entire population is chilling in Denmark at that time of the year.

Oh yeah. Sometimes I forget this is like the coolest death metal song of all time.

@Briks - If you're ever looking to get into death metal that isn't satanic or gorey then Bolt Thrower would be good. All their lyrics are about Warhammer. Not that they're all goofy fantasy schtick though. They manage to hide it. Except for the album covers anyway.

Isbjørn 11-13-2013 07:23 AM

I know them already, but I'm not really sure if death metal is my thing. Maybe if it's not gory, and after I get over the proto-metal sort of thing I have now...

It feels like you can't really separate this album. The tracks are too many and too short for the most part. 38 Counts Of Battery is a ****ing sick album though. Pig Destroyer mate.
