That is actually where I got the name. Years ago on another forum I had their first album as an avatar and people kept thinking it said "Batlord" so I've been using it ever since.

There isn't a headbanging emoticon on this Earth that can properly express the awesomeness of this song. Best death/thrash album ever? Quite possibly.

I've been struggling to get into Bathory because of the satanic themes on their early works. Just looked up Hammerheart since Batlord has been talking so much about it, and it doesn't seem too bad, mostly viking stuff. This solo is amazing and I can see why people like the album. Just wondering, their early satanic stuff, was that just for shock value, or were they real satanists?

The number of actual Satanists in metal is so low that you can safely assume that none of them are Satanists. Even the ones who are are LaVeyan Satanists, so no baby sacrifice. If you wanna stay away from those types though then avoid Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Ulver, and one of the guys from Emperor I think. Samoth maybe. But Bathory are completely safe.

I'm fine with LaVeyan satanists, but they seem to have a view on christianity/religion in general that I'm not very comfortable with. Also, I think my mother would mind a lot if I listened to satanic metal played by actual satanists.
