****ing Katharsis. Some people describe them as what Darkthrone would sound like now if they hadn't gone off in.... whatever direction Darkthrone's doing.

Posting a track of them is difficult, because the Fourth Reich plays best like an album... but I think this particular one shows their strengths quite well.

That was kind of fantastic. I can hear Panzerfaust era Darkthrone, but they wouldn't be the first band to come to mind to compare them to.

Absurd are a great band, and I'm particularly fond of their more melodic moments. In these moments they sound positively mainstream:

I kinda love this. It took 20 or 30 seconds for it to sink in but I stand by my first sentence.

I really like this new direction of Scott Connor (Xasthur):

WARNING: Not Metal

If I said The Aristocrats, would it be fair? I mean, they are a prog hard rock metal band... but there's quite a lot of metal in their music after all, isn't it? Well, can't stop listening to them. A new band of a mind-blowing calibre. I highly recommend them!

I just listened to it too, and it is pretty wizard. Just don't ask about the lyrics I imagine.

I remember HHBH mentioning Beherit a while back, and at the moment I am slightly indifferent. Better than Mayhem or Darkthrone style noise, but not quite enthralling either.

This however is just brilliant. Enough to put me off all other forms of extreme metal.

The lyrics to "Colours of Autumn" are pretty wholesome, actually:

Quote:

Fiery woods and golden trees
are glittering beneath clear sky
silver mist at every morning
and lonely ravens scream up high

Beholding the great vast forest
I can see the colours of autumn
Nightly frost that made flowers withered
is silent messenger of whole life's doom

Melancholy mood within nature
I feel cool touch of upcoming snow
which is born somewhere in North
Northernmost at the end of the rainbow

The burning colours of autumn
such a beatiful garment for death
last flashing of once vitality
but already is to feel dying breath

Not long within further time
all what I see is in the grip of frost
that's the eternal circle of birth and death
but still I enjoy what soon shall be lost
the everlasting colours of autumn
Not particularly intelligent, but what else would you expect from a band with such a heavy Oi! influence? Music for the people needs broad themes.

Anyways, yeah, Beherit are a unique beast. The mastermind behind the band literally spent everything he had to record "Drawing Dawn the Moon" - as in he ended up living in a homeless shelter afterwards.

...

Finally, Engine, that was awfully good. I wasn't a fan of Xasthur, so it's nice to hear him making use of his talents in a way that isn't so offensvie to my ears.

That sounds more like coded language about how his beloved homeland is going to hell.

Yeah, that Katharsis track is brilliant. It's awfully difficult to describe it in any other way.
