Well, they definitely spawned many metal bands, but they actually came from the Seattle alternative scene along with the Melvins and Nirvana. Fun fact: the gun that Kurt Cobain killed himself with belonged to Earth's guitarist.

Huh. I didn't know that, although it makes sense that they were from the same area as the Melvins, their early stuff is kinda-sorta similar.

Just bought this album with some store credit from FYE. Sweet.

The extra CD that comes with the rerelease of Eternal Nightmare is a pretty bitchin' live album. Vio-lence must have been one kick ass live band.

Morbid Angel - Covenant

Death - Spiritual Healing (not as bad as I though it was going to be)

Yeah, Morbid Angel is pretty amazing. Some other stuff you should listen to to get a feel for their awesomeness...

It's been a while since I listened to my copy of Altars of Madness since it's ****ed and causes me more annoyance than actual pleasure. "Chapel of Ghouls" and "Lord of All Fevers and Plagues" are both unlistenable due to scratches, so now I'm listening to it on Youtube. I almost forgot just why this is my favorite death metal album. It just does everything you expect a death metal album to do, and it does it better than anyone has ever done it since. The blast beats, the evilness, the intensity. Everything is just perfect.

Crom—"What Is Best"
Short and to the point, like the life of a barbarian warrior.
