You're looking at it from a modern perspective. Back then bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Aerosmith and UFO etc were all seen as "heavy" bands and usually had the same following, nobody really cared if one band was blues influenced and another wasn't, hell I even grew up think Rush were metal as they could be loud and had the same following as the other bands. The division only really started in the 1980s.

Either "Ride the Lightning" or "...And Justice For All", both by Metallica. They are simply too brutal too not be considered the best.
