Emperor, I cannot stand Burzum's music or Varg's ideologies so this one was pretty easy. Also, Ihsahn is a better musician as evidenced by his last three solo albums plus his Peccatum project with his wife.

Emperor -1
Burzum - 0

Better not compared. Hudge by their own merits rather than something else.

But for the battle

Emperor - 2
Burzum - 0

That Emperor album is amonst the best, I have not been huge on much of the symphonic BM I have listened to, but ItNE is one I have. Burzum is good, and that album is good... but not as good as Emperor.

Yeah, "A Blaze in the Northern Sky" is essential listening for anybody with an interest in Black Metal... So far it has also been my favorite BM album.

It is a not a style I myself am greatly knowledged in, but I am slowly getting into more and more as I go.

Gotta go with Burzum. In the Nightside Eclipse is awesome, but Burzum, and especially Filosofem, fascinate me. Varg may be a worthless human being in need of a kick to the groin, but he made some amazing music.

Emperor - 2
Burzum - 1

Actually I would say that they draw more from Kreator. They really sound like an even more intense Kreator to me.

Burzum. Symphonic Black Metal is boring, redundant, and is - by far - the cheesiest. Cheesier than Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. I don't think Varg has ever put out an album that I can listen to start to finish, but when he's on it's brilliant, and "Jesus' Tod" is certainly that.

Emperor - 2
Burzum - 2

I think he confused it with a war between all metal bands, if there was a war, AC/DC wouldn't win, probably be Manowar or something, cause we would be so ditracted laughing at them they would drop the bomb and end it all before we even knew what was up.

Both the Slayer and Kreator influences are very evident. The thing is though, that few metal singers have a voice thats as evil sounding as that of Mille Petrozza which is why I think vocally they sound more like Slayer.
