Yeah. I like SOAD and Deftones as well. Though SOAD I would put more into alt-Metal. Early Deftones I would say fit into Nu-Metal, especially Adrenaline. Just irritating that it seems like the nu-metal fans always wanna disregard the more extreme styles of metal. Just me being my usual curmudgeon self.

But there is a fair bit of variation in thrash as well, depending on the scene. Some owes more to hardcore punk than metal, which I enjoy. Depends on what you are looking for.

Yeah, I could see myself enjoying some of the more crossover thrash type stuff. I actually downloaded one such album today, I'll have to listen to it.

You probably know this album, but in the event you do not... this is something you would love I bet.

I have not heard that, actually. I'll get on that immediately.

I see ya listened to it.... so what is your verdict. Reason I thought of that album is cause it has a good mix of hardcore punk, crossover, thrash and even grindcore.

this song alone is worth it, heard it on a grindcore comp the first time, and it blew me away, the blast beats are amazing.

was even covered by Napalm Death.

I enjoyed listening to it, it was a lot more in-your-face than other thrash I've heard, and had a lot of hardcore punk influence which I liked. I can definitely hear this band's influence on grindcore. The drumming, to me, was especially interesting.

Devastation win that battle 2-1-1. Next up two albums from two highly influential Norweigan black metal acts courtesy of The Batlord.

Burzum Filosofem 1996

Versus

Emperor In the Nightside Eclipse 1994

My knowledge of black metal is very limited and been meaning to listen to a lot more stuff, thanks to the Batlord I`ll kickstart with these two. Everything I listen to will be compared to Celtic Frost (the masters of extreme metal) and Bathory especially his Blood Fire Death album.
