You gotta pair Saxon up against another big dumb lovable metal band like Accept not Maiden's debut, which is a very special record. 6 to one....Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden win that one by a hefty 6 votes to 1. 2nd ever battle on here is courtesy of Mondo Bungle whose name always reminds me of the Tubes song Mondo Bondage! Its a grassroots death metal face-off. So place your votes and take a few lines explaining your choice.

Pretty much what Mondo said, I prefer Sepultura to Possessed any day of the week, but Possessed had much better production and yeah... it had a greater influence on the American death metal scene then Morbid Visions did.

I finally got around to hearing Seven Churches a couple of years ago for the first time and I remember being really disappointed by it.
From what I had been led to believe about it I would be listening to something on a par with an album like Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales. Nothing about it really stood out for me. I can't remember a single thing about Morbid Visions so i'll pass on this vote.

Possessed 3
Sepultura 0 Both were influential in defining what would become Death Metal down the road. But Possessed takes it, better musicianship, better production and just all around better atmosphere. Sepultura would reach their creative peak with "Beneath the Remains" which came later.. but Possessed hit in right from the start.
