This week's battle centers on two well-known instrumentalists, from two well known bands, and their solo careers. Their associated projects are beloved by some, detested by others, at least vaguely known to all in the grand world of metal.... but have you ever let yourself leave those constraints and venture into what they can do on their own?

Both bring you the metals in a progressive vein, free to express themselves fully and without influence from the band members that have helped paved their journeys. Both know what the **** they're doing. And both have camps of die-hard fans who have followed these musicians throughout projects, solo or simply separate from their most spotlighted claims to fame. Hope yall are ready for some fun.... and hope yall haven't listened to these in their entirety yet. I have definitely plugged a song or two from each album.

In alphabetical order, allow me to present....

ICS Vortex of Dimmu Borgir fame and his solo album 'Storm Seeker'

and

Ihsahn of Emperor fame and his solo album 'After'

I'll leave any personal opinions or descriptions to myself lest I accidentally influence votes. Let the listening commence!

After has always been my favourite of Ihsahn's solo albums so don't be surprised if that wins for me. Looking forward to seeing the results for this battle.

Can this thread be revived? I would enjoy taking part in this. As for the above war...

Ihsahn I really, really, like that album.

It's still active. It just takes people time to listen to the albums.

Nobody wants to be in the Heavy Metal Album Club. I mean, nobody. Died from lack of interest and neglect. May it rest in peace.

It's not dead, just give people time to listen to the albums.

Cicatrice if you've listened to both albums you basically post why you like one over the other or just what you thought of both, whatever. Then, since you're the first official vote, you'd put

Ihsahn: 1
ICS Vortex: 0

People then keep reposting with an updated score and their reviews. Just a heads up since you're new, scoring like this is easier to keep track of whats winning.

Happy listening other folks!

Not a fan of Dimmu Borgir so I'm not really surprised that I didn't like Storm Seeker very much at all. After was decent and that's enough to get its vote from me here.

ICS Vortex: 0
Ihsahn: 2

I believe that's the score atm

Neither album resonates with me much but Ihsahn is better.

Ihsahn: 3
ICS Vortex: 0
