fyi, "Complete & Total ****ing Midnight" is virtually the same album as "Complete & Total Hell".
The Children of Technology & Midnight records are both on Spotify, too :) |
I didn't understand what you meant by "Beer Metal" until I listened to the albums. I get it now.
Both albums were fun but I definitely liked Doomsday better. It was much more concise and the riffs were better. I don't know why but it made me want to watch a Mad Max movie, which is a good thing. Also, the lyrics on Midnight were a little too silly for me at times. I felt like that album was longer than the material should have warranted. CoT - 1 Midnight - 0 |
Yay beer metal (I'd call them both thrash but whatever)
Both albums are good. After a couple songs, I was worried that the Children of Technology one would bore me halfway through but, surprise, it did not. Then I listened to the Midnight album and it spoke to me immediately. But it's a little bit too long and some of the tracks have nearly unlistenable production compared to others. Since I have to choose, I pick Midnight. The CoT album was only slightly better than a new Motorhead album while the Midnight one engages me on several levels. Kinda hardcore, kinda cheesy metal, a cookie monster growl, a Girlschool cover = a great metal experience. Actual old-school thrash bands are probably jealous. Children of Technology: 1 Midnight: 1 |
A couple of albums easy to listen to and basically just thrash. The Children of Technology sounds like a newish thrash album with a influences from all the major thrash bands that have gone before them, Kind of fun to drink a beer to. When I first put on Midnight, the name Venom came straight into my head with the below par production and cheesy lyrics. It was overlong as others have said, but the songs were good and I'd sooner listen to it out of the two albums.

I appreciate the all out thrash aspects but what I have trouble with is the very little variety of both albums. Pretty much the same level of speed and tempo throughout. I prefer the vocals in Midnight, and really enjoyed the tracks Vomit Queen and Unholy and Rotten. CoT is enjoyable, but I find it dies out quick, while Midnight is thoroughly engaging.
Vote Midnight. CoT - 1 Midnight - 3 |
Midnight - 4
CoT - 1 NWoBHM + early Black Metal > Motorhead filtered through Crust Punk lenses |
So Midnight take the round 4-1, next up they face Barbatos, who I've seen described as being the stupidest metal band ever!
Midnight Complete and Total ****ing Midnight 2005 http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Gp5g_1tmyS...v_tid74910.jpg Versus Barbatos Rocking Metal Mother****** 2003 http://www.6rb.com/uploads/photos/album7730_resized.jpg |
CoT lost cause they don't have the fuck in the title anywhere.

I didn't really like Barbatos at all so Midnight by default

Rocking Metal Mother****er is one of the most important underground metal albums of the decade. It's atavistic, recalling the punk spirit & aesthetic which infused seminal releases such as Bathory's s/t, Repulsion's "Horrified", Doom, etc. Some tracks put forth a sort of blackened-d-beat sound, others something like Screeching Weasel meets Celtic Frost.
